Suggest Treatment For Delayed Menstruation In A Person With An Ovarian Cyst

Question: My girlfriend has missed her periods. She tested negative during the pregnancy tests. To have her menses start regularly, she was prescribed with Modus for 5 days. Even after completing the course, when the periods didn't come, she was advised to go for an ultrasound where it has been found that she is having a cyst in the ovary of 3 cms x 2.5 cms with her uterus twisted a bit backwards. The doctor has prescribed her oral contraceptives as a treatment. My questions are:

(i) What will happen if she doesn't get her periods even after having the birth control pills?
(ii) How serious is the issue of the uterus being twisted backwards for which she is having backaches? Is it okay to have intercourse with such a position of the uterus?
(iii) As she is having contraceptives, do we need to take further precautions for having intercourse? How safe is it to have emergency contraceptives during this period?

1) You will have to wait even if no periods start after having birth control pills.

2) Uterus being backwards is normal in many women and not to worry. No problem in having intercourse.
