Brief Answer:
Dark circles and tanning

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

You have ask a very good question- the under eye area needs special attention and care. Dark circles are bit of both, undereye darkness (due to thin skin around the eyes) and hollowness around the eye. The hollow contributes to a tired appearance and also to the under eye darkness. Hyaluronic acid Fillers/ Restylane can be used to correct the hollow very nicely.

Hereditary seems to play a significant role in undereye darkness. In allergy prone individuals, a condition or state of 'atopy' exists & these atopic individuals more often than not manifest with 'dark circles' under the eyes.

It also depends a lot on your lifestyle pattern- diet, sleep, computer / TV use and stress. Stressors/ Strain due to working for long hours on computers & lack of sleep play a major role too.

Dark circles due to thin under eye skin, the thin skin makes the blood vessels under the skin very prominent and hence this appears dark. You could benefit from using a cream containing Vitamin K and Retinol( EGA cream). Use it once a day for at least 3 months to notice a difference.

Another important cause of undereye dark circles is Iron deficiency Anemia.

As can be judged from some of the reasons cited, good hydration, regular 6-8 hours of sleep, addressing stressors and a multivitamin and Iron supplement by themselves will go a long way in correcting this issue.

Skin lightening cream containing glycolic acid, kojic acid, Vit C can be helpful in reducing the appearance of dark circles. Glycolic acid and Arginine peels are the two commonly used peels by dermatologists for undereye dark circles. You can try a few peeling sessions (6-8 sessions) as well.

For Face, I would suggest that you use a broad spectrum sunscreen, that which offers both UV A as well as UV B protection throughout the day.

It is important to select the right sunscreen for desired effects. A sunscreen with minimum 30 spf would be adequate. It should mention both UV B and UV A coverage.

It should be applied in the following quantity:

--3ml for face and neck(a little more than 1/2 teaspoon)
--3ml for each arm(a little more than 1/2 teaspoon).

A sunscreen should be applied every 2-3 hours.

Melalite cream contains a potent steroid, mometasone. It should never be used on face for long because a potent steroid like mometasone can cause the skin of face to become photosensitive, Acne ridden and thinned out with telangiectasias. Females can also have facial hair growth which is an additional problem. Melalite cream is prescription product for pigmentation/melasma over face. It should never be used without the prescription of a dermatologist and that too for not more than 2-3 months.

Rather, at night you can use a cream containing one or more of the skin lightening agents e.g kojic acid, glycolic acid, or hydroquinone etc once daily at night to gradually fade away the tan/pigmentation.

Brief Answer:
Dark circles and tanning

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

EGA cream, contains retinoil and vit K. It is marketed by Curatio pharmaceuticals in XXXXXXX You have to use it once every alternate night initially for a month and the every night, thereafter,

Melalite (hydroquinone) and Lumacip plus are both irritant to the skin and moreover AHA GLOW face wash too is irritating. Melawash face wash is 6% glycolic acid face wash, similar too AHA GLOW face wash, though AHA GLOW contains a lesser percentage of glycolic acid. You can use either one of these.

You cannot use lumacip plus for too long because of the danger of steroid related side effects that I had mentioned before.

Hydroquinone is irritating to the skin and is not recommneded for regular use because it can rarely cause irreversible side effects like Exogenous Ochronosis.

If you continue to use Lumacip plus and Hydroquinone regularly, they are going to damage your skin permanently.

Rather, I would suggest you to use either a kojic acid based cream (Kojic cream OR Carofit Ultra cream) OR Glycolic acid based cream (Glyco-A 12% cream) for regular use on face, once OR twice daily. These creams are free from steroids and can even be used even long term, safely

AHA GLOW face wash/Melawash face wash are drying. You should use them not more than once daily.
