Suggest Treatment For Cysts In The Kidneys

default
Posted on Fri, 5 May 2017
Question: I have been going to the doctor and emergency rooms on and off since January. I have cyst in both kidneys and stones. My last trip to the ER I was told that my liver is enlarged at 20cm, I am 45 years old, a female and usually weigh around 135, today I am weighing 161. I am having a lot of abdominal swelling, pain in my back and and near the stomach region. Pain is constant in the left kidney area. All of my labs that I know of have come back fine. I did receive a card for an appointment in the mail to see an internist on the 18th. ( that is pretty quick for around here ) I have no idea who sent the referral or why. I was told at the ER that I needed to see a urologist, but instead it appears they are sending me to a internist. I also have been having blood pressure of averaging around 150/80 ( never had high blood pressure prior. I am just curious as to what could be causing these symptoms ( kidney pain, enlarged liver and high blood pressure ) I also get a feeling almost like being drunk from time to time that last for hours. I do not drink , smoke or do drugs. Any insight would be helpful seeing as I can't see the doctor until the 18th and I am worried.

Brief Answer:
Possible Diagnosis: Adult onset Polycystic Kidney disease

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank You for the query at HealthcareMagic,

Adult onset polycystic kidney disease is characterized by kidney cysts and stones, pain, liver enlargement and cyst, hypertension, electrolyte imbalance, blood in urine, anemia, uremia, recurrent urinary infections etc.

Your symptoms raise the possibility of Adult onset polycystic kidney disease.

Hypertension is seen in the condition which is treated with ACE inhibitors like captopril, enalapril.
Pain management is with Acetaminophen/Tylenol as it is safe for your kidneys.

Regular follow-up and monitoring of kidney function are needed. Treatment options depend on the severity and kidney function.

Please be advised to follow-up with the Internist as scheduled for further evaluation and management.

Hope I was able to help you
Please feel free to address any further questions/concerns.
