Question: Hi Doctor

This consultation is for my daughter, we have been observing this problem over a year now when we were in US.

Initially when observed cut mark below her genetal area and were told that since she was wearing diapers it is occuring and we should potty train her. We potty trained her and this issue vanished. After few months we again observed same issue and after applying "Aqua Phor" it used to go away but then xome back after few weeks. we apslo applied "triple antibiotic cream" and that would to heal that partially but it never got healed completely.

We consulted dermatologist in US and they prescribed Gentamycin cream. Even culture was done there for that area (FuzailResults.pdf). After coming back to XXXXXXX in march, we saw dermatologist and she was put on antibiotic course and medicine (Dr XXXXXXX Precription) after completing prescribed course problem reduced but came back after some time.

This time we again visted dermatologist (Dr XXXXXXX Prescription) since we re-located to differrent city. After application of pescribed medicine severity reduced but after sometime problem again re-surfaced.

I am attaching picture of daughter genetial area (image 1 and Image 2).

Please advice why we are having this problem for over an year now and what medical course we should follow to get rid of this problem

Brief Answer:
Mixed infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query and photograph.
It's looking like a mixed bacterial and fungal infection.
I went through the prescriptions.
She was treated only with antibiotics.
I treat such cases with ointment mupirocine to be applied in morning and ointment clotrimazole to be applied in night.
Do this for 15 days and later continue with ointment clotrimazole twice daily for another month.
Also give her tablet albendazole 400 mg single dose.
All these medications are safe and effective and available over the counter.
This complete course must be done in order to achieve complete cure.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
