default
Posted on Mon, 31 Aug 2015
Question: Does this cost $? Good Morning, last night I accidentally inhaled antiperspirant deodorant while sniffing which brand smelled the best. This morning I woke up & I am having intermittent coughing. The cough started dry now is getting more wet. Just clear sputum. Plus my throat is sore. How severe is this? Do I need to see a ENT or PULMONOLOGIST as I have a history of asthma & pneumonia x 2 (1 year apart) & pleural effusion x 1.

Brief Answer:
Allergic reaction to the chemicals of the deodrant spray...

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for posting the query. I have gone through the query, understood your problem; I will try my best to help you with this.

1. The present set of symptoms is due to the allergy. Do not worry! It is a mild allergic reaction, with appropriate measures this can be taken care of.

2. You would require antihistamines such as fexofenadine or loratidine to alleviate the allergic reaction and a mucolytic such as ambroxol or bromhexine or acetylcysteine to reduce the expectoration.

3. Steam inhalation helps in reducing the nasal congestion and sore throat.

You can try the above measures for a couple of days. If you do not get better, consult an apt ENT specialist for a complete evaluation.

Hope this answers your query; I will be available for the follow-up queries.
