Brief Answer:
may be lipoma or hernia , kindly provide details precisely

Detailed Answer:
Hello Dear
I evaluated your query thoroughly .
* The lump mentioned here may be lipoma / umbilical or paraumbilical hernia /
non specific subcutaneous fat indentation .
* Kindly provide further details as follows to understand it in more depth &
guide more precisely
1. lump - duration , size , consistency , mobility in relation to underlying
structure , how much cm away from umbilicus , overlying skin changes
if any , noticed for first time in life ?
2. any change in umbilicus shape, size
3. lump is grossly visible over the skin ( if yes , high resolution photograph will
be appreciated if no objection )
4. when you cough is it bulging more over the skin
5. when you lie down is it completely disappearing inside abdomen or remains
of the same size as of sitting / standing position ( for that you have to
assess the size of it with palm side of your fingers in all three positions and
compare all )
6. can you deep your fingers inside abdomen through the lump & same question
for umbilicus
7. bowel movements okay or constipated
8. job in relation with heavy weight lifting / heavy work ups

Thank you.
1. About 2 - 2 1/2 inches across...sitting, no hardness, lying down, no hardness..standing/walking, a little noticeable....coughing or straining when rising or lifting, becomes pronounced.....no notice of skin changes or umbilicus...not extremely visible even when coughing, but can be felt...
As mentioned, had almost 2 1/2 weeks of very deep heavy coughing associated with a bug or flu....also, had a great deal of weight loss over 2 yeas (150 pounds) and then a gain of 2/3 back, plus the colon surgery and resection.
Bowel movements seem to be same as always....

Brief Answer:
para umbilical hernia , needs ultrasound examination .

Detailed Answer:
Hello Dear
Thanks for all the details .
* This favors presence of para umbilical hernia more likely .
* Strongly recommended to get an Ultrasound of the local part with abdomen &
pelvis to evaluate for the lump with size of the underlying defect .
* Till then
- good control of cough is vital
- maintain weight
- avoid increase in intra abdominal pressure as getting constipation , weight
lifting , others
Hope this helps you .
Welcome for any assistance .
Wishing you fine recovery from the same .
Regards dear take care .
