Brief Answer:
Nasal block needs to be removed.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. Most often such symptoms occur due to certain viral infections. The reason for his waking up from time to time is not pain but nasal blockage that leaves him unable to breathe smoothly. You need to use Nasoclear Saline Nasal Drops 2-3 drops in each nostril when needed. If that does not help the next step would be to use Nasivision which should not be used for more than a week.

Steam inhalation would help. Water in form of vapor will reach deep inside and would help in diluting off the mucus plugs. Just sit with the child on your lap, place the source of steam before you, the water vapor will be in the air and automatically the child will breathe it in.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
