Brief Answer:
Please do not use any medicated nasal decongestants

Detailed Answer:
Hi... I understand your concern. But for such an young baby you should not be using any medicated nasal decongestants. They are not licensed to be used at this age group for two reasons -
1. The safety and efficacy is not established in this age group by clinical trials.
2. This may cause rebound nasal congestion on stopping.

So, I suggest you use only saline nasal decongestant like Nasoclear. Safety is more important in this age group rather than immediate symptomatic relief.

For nasal block, plain saline nasal drops will do, every 4-6th hourly to relive nasal congestion.

Hope this helps. If you have any further queries I will be glad to clarify them for you.

Brief Answer:
Cough is physiological and no medication in this age group

Detailed Answer:
Hi.... I understand your concern. When you say another member of the family is also having similar symptoms it means that it is viral and ultimately it will have some cough and it will gradually get better by itself.

To explain you - cough is physiological in this age group and it is a way the baby clears the secretions from the respiratory tract. Cough can induce vomiting also. But if the baby is feeding appropriately (though vomiting) and otherwise active you need not worry. I will tell you the danger signs when you need to worry please keep them in mind and get back if they appear.

1. Fast breathing with a respiratory rate of more than 50 breaths per minute.

2. Inability to feed.

3. High grade fever above 101 degrees Fahrenheit.

4. Respiratory distress.

My 3 1/2 months baby girl still has cough. She has due with vaccination on this 26th.
Is it okay to go take vaccination even cough is not under control?
If not, is it okay to postpone vaccination? for how many days?

Brief Answer:
Cough is not a contraindication for vaccination - please go ahead

Detailed Answer:
Hi... cough is not a contraindication for vaccination. Please go ahead with vaccination. The logic behind this is that cough is just a post viral manifestation and is physiological, whereas the diseases which are prevented by vaccination are far more dangerous.

That's why I am asking you to go ahead with vaccination.
