What Could Cause Recurrent Tingling Sensation Around My Lips, Lip Discoloration And Tightness In The Throat?

Question: Hi, I'm a male in my late 30's. Over the course of the last 3 years I have been sexually active with many different partners. One of my first encounters, I performed oral on my partner and the following day woke up feeling a tingling sensation in my lips. This never broke into any outbreak and the tingling has lessened over the course of the last 2 years., I still feel it on and off, I have no idea what this can be but it makes me self conscious. Also, my lips have discolored somewhat and there is a small black dot in the middle area of my lower lip. I have been recently tested and everything was fine except for throat gonorrhea for which I received antibiotics, this was approx. 4 months ago. After I had finished the antibiotics, I still felt tightness in my throat, almost as if something was squeezing the base of my neck. I perform regular checks on myself and do not see anything which is alarming. What I would like is to address the on/off tingling of my lips, lip discoloration and tightness in throat. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Unlikely to e due to infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for your query.
Please upload a picture so that I can see this black dot you are referring to.
The tingling you feel is more likely to be due to anxiety than due to a physical cause. Since you had gonorrhea , you may have mild scarring of tissues not visible to the naked eye and this may be a cause for the tightness in the throat. There is nothing to worry and it would resolve with time . It is not due to an active infection. If you are in the habit of rubbing your lips, this can produce discoloration from neurodermatitis. Let me see the picture.

Best wishes,

Hello Dr XXXXXXX

Thank you for having taken the time to respond. I have uploaded some pics as requested.

As per the tingling, is it possible that this has been on and off for the last 2 years, would this not be some form of infection if it has persisted this long?

As per my throat, how much time do you believe I should wait before having a concern?

Your time is much appreciated.

Best,

doctor

Brief Answer:
No evidence of infection

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.
The picture is suggestive of a contact dermatitis and not of an infection.
The throat sensation is not suggestive of an active gonorrhea as there is no discharge.
Take care

Brief Answer:
Avoidance and local steroid

The most important factor is to avoid the contact causing the problem.
