Suggest Treatment For Constipation

Question: My Daughter is 9 years old. She is 4ft 10 inches and weighs 120lbs. Every time she eats she complains of a stomach ache and like a burning in her esophagus. The pain seems to be up high on her left side like at the top of the stomach. She has been complaining for a year. I took her to a gastroenterologist and he said I should give her Mira lax every night for 6 months...I have done that but it just seems to make her feel bad all the time...so I stopped doing that but I still haven't resolved the issue...not sure what to do

Brief Answer:
Start treatment for gastritis after investigations

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I have gone through your question. The symptoms are suggestive of gastritis and peptic ulcer disease rather than just due to constipation. Miralax is a laxative and will improve constipation if present. But it doesn't improve gastritis associated symptoms.

H. Pylori is a common bacterial infection which causes peptic ulcer disease. So, I would recommend you to go for some investigations I.e
- Hydrogen breath test
- stool routine and microscopic examination
Upper GI endoscopy

This will help in definitive answer. Once diagnosis is confirmed, it can be easily managed. You may upload the reports for my reference. Also, mention both parents height.

Hopefully it will be of help.
Take care
