Question: My baby is 22 months old, He is having problem in motion, His motion is very tight and some time we see blood. It hard and strong. He try for15-20 min to pass stools once he feel sensation

I understand your concern.

Constipation at this age is usually associated with changes in food habits.

Sometimes a child may be disinterested in passing stool.

The tinge of the blood can be due to excessive straining.

Before putting him on laxatives, it is very important to rule out any intestinal abnormality.

For this, I advise you to get an ultrasound abdomen at the earliest.

One it is found to be normal, we can put him of syrup laxatives like Duphalac. Short course for 3-5 days will help to normalize stool passage.I generally recommend my patients this syrup.Please check with your doctor if he is of the same view and if can prescribe them to you.
