Posted on Sat, 5 Apr 2014
Question: My nose runs constantly when I do any activity from just taking a walk to vigorous gardening or power walking and especially when I lean forward or bend over. It's a thin clear liquid, no coughing, or blocked sinus. It's been a problem for as long as I can remember, but It's worse as Om getting older. Im 67 years old and in good health.

Brief Answer: Can be due to vasomotor rhinitis (VMR) Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for posting your query. The constant running nose in the absence of any stuffed nose can be due to nonallergic rhinitis or vasomotor rhinitis (VMR). Other common causes can be polyps, a foreign body, a tumor or migraine-like headaches. You need to consult an ENT specialist for a physical examination and nasal endoscopy and rule out allergy by skin test and blood tests. Local steroid and anticholinergic nasal sprays can help in reducing the problem. I hope this answers your query. In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out. Wishing you good health. Regards. Dr. Praveen Tayal.
