Suggest Treatment For Constant Recurrent Sneezing And Cold

default
Posted on Tue, 23 Jun 2015
Question: From a long time now I am suffering from cold and sneezing. This started when i was in primary school. I had frequent occurrences of cold and running nose. My nose would block and it was difficult to breath. I tried English medicine and Ayurveda, frequency was reduced. After my marriage it has become worse as I started doing household work.

I am allergic to dust, non veg (Not sure if it is egg or chicken), my nose will be blocked if I sleep in less/normally ventilated room. Please advice me how to deal with this.

Brief Answer:
You are mostly having allergic rhinitis.

I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, in my opinion, you are mostly having allergic rhinitis.
Following are treatment options for allergic rhinitis.
1. Avoidance of allergen.
2. Nasal spray containing steroid.
3. Oral antihistamine and anti allergic drugs combination.
All these drugs are prescribed medicines, so you need doctor 's prescription for them.

Complete avoidance of the allergen is not possible as it not a single thing. I don't like to take any drug containing steroids or ones that I might get addicted to or the ones which will have side effects.

I am not taking any drugs at present. There is no history of allergy in any of my family members.
Let me know if you need further information.

Brief Answer:
Steroid nasal spray is the treatment of choice for allergic rhinitis.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on HCM.
You should avoid allergen whenever it is possible. Wear mask or keep some cloth while having dust or other allergen.
And no need to worry for habit formation.
Nasal spray containing steroid is the treatment of choice for allergic rhinitis. Steroids are harmful for the body but this is true with oral steroid. Nasal spray containing steroid is very very safe for long term use and not having side effects.
So no need to worry for side effects and habit.
You should also start oral combination of antihistamine and anti allergic drugs.
So consult doctor and start appropriate treatment.
Hope I have solved your query.
