Suggest Treatment For Constant Headache

Posted on Thu, 18 Feb 2016
Question: Hi. This past Wednesday, I started to develop a headache which hasn't gone away. It started coming from my neck so I pressed on what I read about called trigger points. The area that was hurting was on the right back of my head right above my hairline. It seemed to help a bit at the time. Then the next day, my head would just hurt when I bent down, cough, sneeze, laugh, etc. and only for a split second. Then they seemed to get better yesterday as long as I didn't move my neck around a whole lot and irritate it. Now, today, I have a constant headache on the right side of my head that feels worse if I lay down. On the back of my neck right above my hairline, there's somewhat of a bump almost like bone sticking out that's not on the other side. Other side is flat. But it's a noticeable bump if I feel it. No pain when I press on it. Just the slight headache that won't go away. Is this something serious???

Brief Answer:
Needs a scan

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am Dr Mittal. I have read your message. I think I can help you.
The symptoms of the query has a vast differential diagnosis. It ranges from something as simple as migraine to serious conditions like intracranial bleeds.
I therefore suggest that you get a MRI BRAIN or ag least a CAT scan of the brain as soon as possible.
The future treatment depends on the scan .

I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information contained in this message will be able to help you find the best solution for your problem. Best of luck. Dr Mittal

You didn't answer my question well because you can't diagnose that without knowing other symptoms I may be experiencing. Can intracranial bleeds happen for days without other such symptoms except a headache? I read that you would have many other symptoms like paralysis if that was the case. Nausea, dizziness, etc.

Brief Answer:
Needs a scan

Detailed Answer:
there are many cases who don't have any symptom but headache.
you need to understand what the net says is a generalised opinion. it doesn't mean that it applies to your case perfectly.
And it depends on the type of bleed. like Sub arachnoid hemorrhage has predominantly headache.
Also , I have said already that there are a vast range of probable diagnosis.
Also , by the description of the query you put up I can obviously assume that you have no other symptom else you would have put it up.
I will still suggest a scan.
Best of luck. Dr Mittal
