Suggest Treatment For Constant Headache, Intermittent Nausea, Neck And Back Pain

default
Posted on Tue, 18 Aug 2015
Question: I am 41, female, not overweight. I have had neck and back pain for the last couple of weeks not brought on by over exertion, lifting etc. I have been for several deep tissue massages that just left my neck and shoulders bruised but did not loosen anything up. If anything, I believe the pain is worse. Now I have developed a constant headache with fullness, (3 days) that seems to radiate all over with deep pain behind the eyes, and at the base of skill. Not relieved by Nsaids. Neck pain radiates up and down , with very noisy crackling sound when turning head. There is also intermittent nausea. Going to family px. in 2 days but wondering if you can suggest what this may possibly be caused by, what tests might need to be done, or what I should do in the meantime..Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Cervical spondylosis can be the cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Cervical spondylosis can be the cause of your problem. A physical examination by an orthopedian followed by x ray and MRI of cervical spine will help you to rule out this.

I usually advise muscle relaxants like cyclobenzaprine, NSAIDs like Nimusulide and neurotropic drugs for my patients with such condition. Physiotherapy and muscle strengthening exercises should be done along with this also.

Wearing soft cervical collars will be helpful also. Cervical home traction might be helpful also. This should be done only by the advise of your orthopedian as in conditions like myelopathy it is contra indicated.

Nausea could be caused by vertigo. This also occurs in cervical spondylosis. Drugs like meclizine will be helpful in such case.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if any thing not clear.
Thanks.
