Suggest Treatment For Colourless Bumps And Rashes On Legs Of A Child

default
Posted on Tue, 8 Sep 2015
Question: For about ten days now, my four year old son has colorless bumps or rash on his legs, it started on his lower leg and now on his thighs. I have applied coconut oil, Avena body cream and cortazone. The bumps seem to change places day by day, disappearing from some places, appearing in others. Repeat they are colorless, almost invisible except in a certain light, and do not itch. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
viral rash

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Many viruses like coxackie virus and enterovirus do present with such bumps.
Send us some pictures if possible.
Usually they don't itch and can last for more than a week too.
You can try current treatment.
Antibiotics are not required, there is no specific antiviral medicine available.
If rashes increase or he gets fever better to consult your pediatrician.
Wishing your child good health and speedy recovery.
Regards
Dr Arun

That sounds like a distinct possibility. He has had a very mild cough - like a few times a day, not constant - and just a bit of a runny nose. But other than that, no other symptoms. So it could be a mild virus.

I'll try to send some pictures later today. In any case, I will set up an appointment with the pediatrician for next week, or earlier if symptoms intensify.

Thank you.
