Question: Hi,

I’ve had a cold and cough for a few days now , but I’ve also got pain in the middle of my upper back and left shoulder , I’ve also got pain round the left side under my rib at the back , I had these pains before the cough , I’ve read this could be a sign of lung cancer I’m really scared

Brief Answer:
NO lung cancer!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

This is no lung cancer. The pain is certainly aggravated by the increased coughing efforts and muscle fatigue. As the cough gets better, this too would. I recommend you get Tylenol 650mg every 8hours for relief. Cancer of the lung starts with cough and shortness of breath and not chest pain.

I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be.

A few more questions!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

1. What is your age?
.2. Have you been smoking and if yes, how many per day and for how many years.

Well, nothing points to cancer. I hear your concerns but would weigh in even more after the above responses

Waiting...

Brief Answer:
Unlikley to be cancer!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

This is clearly not cancer. Even with your smoking history, we get real concerned after 55years. However, I strongly recommend you stop smoking. There is no need to keep getting worried with this intrusive thought which is unfounded and only serves to keep you unnecessarily worried.

I wish you well.
