Question: hello, a week ago yesterday i detached my toenail...i wanted to try and keep it on as im going on vacay in 5 days...but now its leaking a clear fluid 😔 i need to be able to walk during vacay. what should i do

Hi,

From the pictures I see, the nail seems to be broken and probably ripped off the nail bed. The part of nail that's already off the nail bed won't stick on. It will at some point of time break off to be replaced by growing nail.

Since it's secreting clear fluid, I don't think keeping it on is a good idea. I would recommend you seeing a doctor nearby to examine the area closely and to check signs of infection. You need to be treated with antibiotic preparation if there are signs of infection from the fluid discharge. If there is none, the doctor might remove the damaged nail and let the body heal naturally.

I understand you are off to a vacation. Once the infection per se is taken care off, it shouldn't bother you much.
