Posted on Wed, 1 Oct 2014
Question: I am having a circular rash on my penis. First the skin in the center of the rash turned brown and dried off. The border of the rash is still brown and now there is some liquid secretion coming out of the center as well. Can you please advise what this could be?

Brief Answer:
Suspicious of STD

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.

The rash on the penis is suspicious of sexuallt transmitted disease (STD).
STD is the not the only possibility, however, STDs have to be ruled out before investigating for any other lesion.
Syphilis is the most probable STD.
Syphilis is characterized by a painless ulcer on external genitalia.
Painful ulcers are seen in another STD caused by Haemophilus ducreyi.
I suggest you to consult a dermatologist for clinical assessment, relevant investigations and thus management.
In case STDs are ruled out, other skin disorders have to be ruled out.
Abstain from unprotected sex till STD is ruled out or treated.
In case the test for STD turns out to be positive, your partner also needs to be tested for STD.

If you have more query, I will be glad to answer.
