Suggest Treatment For Choroid Plexus Cysts In Brain
Question: Can choroid plexus cysts be found anywhere in the brain on a developing fetus? More specifically, can they be found in the anterior brain parenchyma?

Choroid plexus cysts are normally found around the lateral ventricles. A cyst found in the anterior brain parenchyma can rarely be a choroid plexus cyst. These are typically detected around the 2nd trimester and are seen as sonolucent cysts particularly about the lateral ventricles.
They generally disappear by 26-28 weeks in utero and are of no significance in most cases. However if one is seen in antenatal imaging it would warrant careful surveillance of the rest of the fetus due to weak associations with karyotypic abnormalities. Choroid plexus cysts are of concern if the cysts are large (> 1 cm) (controversial evidence), bilateral, multiple and associated with structural abnormalities, when the maternal age is equal to or greater than 32 years, or if the maternal serum screening results are abnormal.
The cysts themselves resolve in the 3rd trimester and are generally not associated with abnormal CNS development. It is usually the associated conditions that are of concern.

What does this ultrasound report mean?
Background: I am currently 14w3d pregnant. I had a detailed ultrasound after a necessary surgery on tuesday. This is the ultrasound report:
Crown-rump length is 8.25 mm corresponding to 14 weeks 1 day. Fetal heart is 137 bpm. There is posterior placenta which is low lying w/ marginal previa.
There is nonspecific thickening of the nuchal fold measuring up to 5.1 mm. Cannot exclude cystic hygroma. Limited evaluation demonstrates large cystic structures demonstrated with anterior cranial vault. Etiology is indeterminate and could reflect underdevelopment/abnormal development of anterior brain parenchyma versus abnormal compression of brain parenchyma versus hydrocephalus. Recommendation is for further evaluation by a high risk OB.
My ob spoke w/ us but i could barely comprehend what he told me. I am desperate for info right now.
I took the harmony test several weeks ago and it game back at virtually zero risk for the things it tests for (t21, t13, t18, turners - we are having a girl)
No abnormal heart rates....no abnormal hcg levels...in fact, the day before this scan I had a thorough scan at my regular OB and everything came back perfect. My OB mentioned they have higher quality ultrasounds at the hospital.
What kind of cysts could this be? Could this possibly resolve itself and lead to a healthy baby? I am seeing a MFM this Thursday but would like Some information in the meantime.
