Posted on Tue, 14 Feb 2017
Question: I got diagnosed with Chlamydia today and my doctor gave me antibiotics. My question is, about the same time I noticed my penis being irritated (2 1/2 weeks ago) I also was having unexplained itching, swelling in the groin, and just widespread joint/body pain. My question is not if I also have something else....but can Chlamydia cause these type of symptoms.

Brief Answer:
It is possible!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

IT is possible for chlamydia to cause these similar symptoms. As you are on treatment already, I will suggest you complete it and see whether these symptoms are equally resolved. If they fail to, then there might be something else that we are missing out on. However, because they are possible explained, I will not want any further investigations unless the treatment fails to address them. This is a short duration of treatment and will not pose any harm if it turns out that these symptoms were not entirely caused by the chlamydia infection.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
