Question: I am a diabetic for some 20yrs. Recently had some chills and woke up with pain in my right arm and my surgar reading is now over 200 and I have been eating very little. any advice? Also had cold clammy skin.

It is important to get a proper glucose control first. Are you taking your drugs regularly and following the recommended diet. If yes, checking for an infection is very important. An infection could manifest itself through chills, fever or pains. Doing a complete blood count, C reactive protein and a urine examination and culture of utmost importance.

What is urgent here is actually excluding an infection from your clinical signs and symptoms. Infections could destabilize blood sugar levels.
