Question: I believe my wife has Sepsis (urinary infection). She has taken the last of her medication provided by a medical doctor in Winnipeg (Phenazopyridine Hydrochloride 97.5 mg). We are currently in Arizona. She is currently suffering from acute chills and shaking.
She is thirst, drinking water, and has just taken 2 tylenol, the chills appear to have settled back a little - she is urinating, and her pulse is approx 80/minute per the fitbit she is wearing. She is normally very healthy and does not suffer from any known diseases.

Brief Answer:
She is likely to have UTI.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for query .

Based on the facts that you have posted frequency for urination and fever with chills that your wife has is mostly due UTI..

Get her routine urine test and urine culture done to find out the organisms causing this infection and antibiotics to which they are sensitive to.

Give her broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefixime along with urinary antiseptic like
Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkaliser thrice daily.Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.

Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.

Ensure she drinks more water to keep urine dilute

However since she has recently come back from XXXXXXX I would suggest to get her blood tests for peripheral smear done to rule out Malarial Infection ..

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

I believe I was infected with salmonella via a chicken salad sandwich on Thursday about 11am - and by 10pm I was experiencing explosive watery diarrhea and extreme chills with abdominal pain, wretching nonproductive vomiting (post Gastric Bypass 7yrs)....this continued until I had not urinated for 16 hours and had lost 14 pounds on the scale in 36 hours and was tachycardic 130bpm with a low bp 90/62...I went to ER, received 3 liters saline and urinated 50 cc, was sent home...I am now experiencing constant sweats with diarrhea slowing to every 3 hours. WBC , eisinophils below normal at er lab, other indicators of dehydration as expected...the sweats are a change - is this normal and what is the cause? or mechanism that is occuring in this infectious process?

Hi tthere....I am a 53 yr old female and ave been ill for 6 months now and can t seem to get a diagnosis. Started off with heavy chest pain whereby I was treated for Brochitas but the chest pain didn t go away but only got worse like an elephant was sitting on my chest. After multiple visits to the emergency room and doctors with CT scans, blood work, ultrasounds etc. I am still experiencing pain in my joints, muscles, ribs etc as well as muscle weakness, tremors throughout my body esp in my legs making my legs feel like jello. I am also now experience extreme chills (worse at night) not to mention neck pain. Have been referred to a Hemotologist (as it was thought it could by lymphoma) as well as a Rhumatolgist (which feels it could be Fibromyalgia). Have not been referred to a Neurologist as of yet. Any suggestions or paths you can direct me in would be very much appreciated. Thanks Leslie
