Suggest Treatment For Chest Pain Due To Dehydration

Question: had two kidney stents put in (May 2013) after discovering slight blockage while in ER for chest pain caused by dehydration. ..no problem til now..had yearly check up last may...Drank in excess Monday night, developed pain in left side tuesday afternoon, slight pain in right side this morning. Drove 5 hours yesterday and first noticed pain when getting out of car...no pain with deep breaths..pain occurs when standing, stretching. On a scale of 1 to 10, pain is about 5...thank you.

1. The stents that were placed was in the renal artery or the ureter ?
2. Have you been taking your blood pressure medications regularly ?
3. Is there any blood in the urine ?
4. any fever ?

Renal artery stents...in May of 2013 was in ER thinking heart attack...wrong..pain was from dehydration ...not heart...did fluorscope, checked heart..no problem..checked kidneys, found slight blockage in renal artery..put stents in....no problem..on Zocor for cholesterol...no other drugs...

Feeling better, still have slight pain in left side, no pain in right side..no blood in urine, no fever

From the description given by you the pain looks more like that coming from muscle cramps probably secondary to dehydration. Drinking can cause dehydration and so does traveling long hours.

I dont think any evaluation is required at the moment. I recommend that you place ice packs over the area where the pain is arising. Also tab acetaminophen three times a day is a good enough painkiller.

Bloackage in the renal artery usually causes chest pain which of stabbing type and quite severe, patients also complain of breathlessness

Please drink adequate amounts of water, upto 5-6 glasses per day
