Suggest Treatment For Cellulitis On My Lower Right Leg

default
Posted on Tue, 22 Aug 2017
Question: I have been diagnosed with a staph infection and cellulitis on my lower right leg, I've now been on an oral and topical antibiotic for about 48 hours and keeping the affected area covered. I have developed some bruising around the "pimples" is this normal? What should the healing process look like?

Brief Answer:
Kindly upload an image for review!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this infection that you have. To be of most help, I will like to review an image of this leg so as to provide a personalized and helpful response. Ibuprofen is often not advised in cellulitis and if this was not prescribed by your doctor, I will suggest that stop this. How severe is your pain? I will like to know.

The ibuprofen was prescribed, my pain level hasn't increased nor decreased, I'd say it's about a 5. (I have endometriosis so nothing really compares to that pain Haha)

Brief Answer:
This is normal for cellulitis!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have reviewed this attached image. It is typical of cellulitis and there is nothing worrisome to it at this time. Continue with the antibiotic. If you feel Ibuprofen makes no major change on your pain level and you can support the pain, then drop it.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Keep me updated on how this unfolds.
