Question: Two yrs ago I started having frequent pneumonias. CT scans have shown multiple nodules (some noncalcified) in both lungs and now a calcified granuloma in the spleen. Have much neuro-muscular symptoms, stomach problems, fatty liver, positive ANA, positive for Sjogren"s Syndrome, positive Epstein Barr, Low platelets(100), Raynauds syndrome, Cardiomyopathy, enlarged thyroid, frequent UTI, low K+ & Magnesium, very low B12. Went through Mayo clinic 18 mos ago and they could not come up with a definitive diagnosis. I hurt a lot, I am 77 yrs old and very active in spite of. Hope I haven't scared you away. Just wish I could find some answers.

Brief Answer:
No need to worry for Calcified granuloma in spleen.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Don't worry, you have not scared me.
I am used to these kind of multiple diseases in single patient.
No need to worry for Calcified granuloma in spleen. Calcification means healed, inactive thing.
I am more concerned about non Calcified granules in lungs.
These can be due to infective etiology.
So please let me know
1. Have you checked for infective causes of lung granuloma?
2. Are you taking any immuno suppressive drugs?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

1. Other than Blood work, no infective causes have been done. I have had an elevated C-Reactive Protein yrs ago and was on steroids for 2 yrs. At the time of Pneumonia 2 yrs ago CRP was 94 but returned to normal.
2. No immunosuppressive drugs have been recommended. Have been told that it is suspected that there is an auto-immune disease present but not identified.
I have made an appt. with a Pulmonologist in XXXXXXX Ga. for followup. My last CT Scan was in XXXXXXX 2016 in Macon, Ga. showing the above. He has since left his
practice. I was unaware of this last scan report: Physician only said, it was no better and no worse than the last one and wanted to repeat in 3 mos.

Will welcome any further comments.

Brief Answer:
Ask for Bronchoscopy.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Since you were on immuno suppressive drugs, we should definitely rule out chronic lung infection in your case.
So better to discuss about bronchoscopy with pulmonologist. Bronchoscopy will be much more informative about infection.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
