Brief Answer:
It can not be a complication of Diabetes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for asking on HCM!

Nerve damage is a chronic complication of Diabetes and it develops usually after 5 years of diagnosis and not well controlled blood sugar. As you've mentioned, you have checked the blood sugar regularly and it has been normal until a few months ago, so it can not be a chronic complication of Diabetes.

I would recommend to see a neurologist. After running a detailed physical examination he/she may ask for some radiological exams or an EMG to try to find the cause of suspected neuropathy.

Hope the information will help.

Kind Regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
