Suggest Treatment For Burning Sensation During Urination

Question: Hi there, my girlfriend bit my penis by accident while giving a blowjob. I felt a sharp shot of pain for a moment and it was bleeding a little bit but stopped soon after. She has braces and my skin accidentally grinded against her brace. We have been active for one and a half year already and this has never happened. We were both shocked a bit. The bleeding stopped soon, but it burned a bit after. I already urinated and it felt a bit like lite burning sensation. I washed it with hand soap also on the inside as good as I could. The blood came from the inside opening of the head. On the outside there is no visible damage. It feels okay now but I am still a bit worried. Should I watch for anything or take any precautions? For your information my girlfriend and I are both STD free and healthy. Thank you ...

Brief Answer:
Watch for infection but it should heal quickly.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

I am sorry for this accident. If I am understanding this correctly, the injury is to the urinary meatus (opening of the head of penis). Also from your description it sounds like it might have been a mild abrasion (scuffing) rather than an avulsion (tearing off of a piece of tissue)?

I also do not gather from your description that there is a significant open laceration - that would need suturing.

The mucus membrane of the meatus should heal quickly and will probably be better in 24 hours. This is highly vascular tissue so it has a good blood supply to bring healing to the area (and also bleeds easily as you noted).

The precautions you took were wise, to clean the area. Now I would leave it be and let it heal.

Until it feels better, I suggest avoiding foods that are spicy or acidic (tomatoes for example) just because the urine from eating these types of foods may be slightly irritating. And keep the urine more dilute by drinking water.

Even without those dietary modifications it is likely to be ok soon.

Watch for signs of local infection such as increasing redness, swelling tenderness, or discharge.

Go in to a doctor or clinic if you have any signs of infection, OR if it is not healing quickly (i.e. showing some improvement in next day) or seems to be getting worse in anyway.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information.
