Brief Answer:
dentists are pretty good at assessing mouth problems

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
Dentists are usually pretty good at determining if mouth lesions are dangerous or benign. However, it sounds like the lesions the dentist looked at and said were nothing to worry about have changed. Ulcers in the mouth can be due to infection or a more serious problem like an oral cancer. It would be best for you to see your dentist or a physician to look at this change in your mouth and give you an opinion about whether or not it is serious. If it is just a viral infection causing the ulcer then it will heal up on its own in a few weeks. Any changes in the mouth need to be checked as soon as possible.

I find myself rubbing my tongue over it all the time I'm hoping it's just irritated or sumthing but it's the first time it's happened. I've had ulcers a lot threw my life

Brief Answer:
yes

Detailed Answer:
It is very irritating to have something going on in your mouth and hard not to keep running your tongue over it. I hope it is nothing serious and resolves soon.
