Question: Doctor I have a bump on the floor of my mouth that I discovered a month ago. Dentist referred me to an oral surgeon. Surgeon felt it was due to infection or trauma. Was prescribed chlorhexidine and an antibiotic clindamycin hcl 300 which I finished yesterday. I'm very concern about the lump.

Brief Answer:
Sialolith, surgical excision, radiograph

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query and the images.
As far as the swelling or lump over the floor of the mouth is concerned it looks like a sialolethiasis, that is a stone in the salivary gland duct. I don't see features of infection. Or perhaps the signs are masked after use of antibiotic. In this circumstances, it would be better to evaluate further.

Nothing to be panic about. But I will urge you to get back to the oral physician. You might need a radiograph like mandibular cross sectional occlusal radiograph to confirm possibility of stone. Once the diagnosis is confirmed, it can removed by surgical excision.

I hope I have answered your query. If any queries are there reply me back.
Take care

Brief Answer:
Inflammatory hyperplasia, fibroma, surgical removal.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feed back. I have gone through your images.
Nothing to be panic, it looks more like a inflammatory hyperplasia secondary to any irritation by a stone in the duct. Or it can be a simple fibroma secondary to irritation. Nothing to worry. it's a benign lesion consult a oral and maxillofacial surgeon and get it removed.
I hope I have answered your query. Of any queries are there reply me back. Take care.
