default
Posted on Mon, 13 Jul 2015
Question: I fell on my backside. When I went down I hit the edge of a bench. My lower back and all down my butt is bruised. It appears the blood is draining down from the sight of impact. I have iced a lot since it happened and have taken iphprofen. I am flying tomorrow, Sunday this happened on Friday. It does not hurt too much. I am of course a little sore. Oh I am in Costa Rica, flying to California. I was going to ask for ice on the plane.

Brief Answer:
Soft tissue injury likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The presence of Bruise in the area is suggestive of a hematoma formation and a soft tissue injury on the area. If you can walk properly then any bone injury is not likely. The pain and bruise will take a week to subside. Continue doing a cold compress and give rest to the area as much as you can. If there is no increase in swelling or pain then you can safely travel. In case of any increase in pain or swelling do consult your physician for a physical examination to rule out infection.
I hope this answers your query.
