Question: My son just had a football scrimmage and got hit pretty hard. After the game his coach and I noted he had a bruise above his eyebrow on the left side and both eyes were dilated. He complains of headache but no nausea. He is a little slow with reaction I am worried that maybe I should take him to the ER but my friend who is an EMT said to let him rest and wake him every couple hours. Is this what i should do or take him to the hospital

Brief Answer:
Should take to ER.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX XXXXXXX
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar, a neurologist, here to answer your query.

As he has got a bruise above eyebrow with this hard blow,it may be indicative of some scalp/intracranial damage. He is slow in reaction and that may be a further ominous sign.
I suggest you take him to ER and preferably get a 'CT head with bone window' done to rule out any fracture or intracranial damage.

If you have any further question,I shall be glad to answer else please close the thread, rate it and write a review as your rating will be of help to me.
