Suggest Treatment For Brown Spots In Groin Area

default
Posted on Sat, 23 Jan 2016
Question: I have multiple brown spots in my groin area. They are slightly raised. They are around the base of my penis and a few close to my scrotum. There are non on my penis or on my scrotum. They have no symptoms really except they can slightly itch at times, I just readjust my stuff and the itch goes away.
I have had my primary care physician look at them and I also have been seen by a dermatologist.. I have two different diagnoses. One says skin tags, one says genital wart.
I am 41 year old male. I have been in a committed relationship for 3 years. I have had these spots for approx 1 year. But had convinced my self they were nothing but recently decided to get them checked would be best.
I was just looking for another opinion or recommendation. I was planning on asking my pcp about a possible biopsy to confirm as I would not want to alarm my girlfriend if there is no need.
People act like genital warts is no big deal but it can be devastating hearing that and I would want to be certain
Ps not sure this matters.. Never mentioned this before but I did burn this area with XXXXXXX to the point it scabbed over sometime before any places appeared.

Genital wart

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query and photograph.
It is looking like genital warts.
You need to get them removed.
There is nothing to worry.
These can be easily removed with electrocautery.
You can lead a completely normal sexual life once these are removed.
Please meet a dermatologist and get them removed.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

Thank you doc. Let me ask you this. I have been with my gf for 2 1/2 years. These places have been visible for a year. She has shown no symptoms that I am aware.
Is this something that should he discussed with her? Or how would I recommend I handle that? I don't want her to worry or it be in the back of her head all the time. I wouldn't want anyone to go thru this if so I would want to know 100% or atleast 99% that it is warts.
What should I tell or disclose to my gf?
One doc prescribed podofilax and I started using it today.

Brief Answer:
Use podofilax

Detailed Answer:
Hello
It's not a serious thing.
Although warts are contagious but not everyone is affected with these.
You mentioned living with her for more than 2 years.
She would have developed warts if she was susceptible.
Revealing her your condition might cause disturbance in your relations.
Its better to get yourself treated.
Once removed you would be totally normal.
Podofilax is a good medication.
It will help you but be careful in application.
It can cause burns. Taking it under medical supervision would be a wise option.

Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
