Suggest Treatment For Breast Cancer Metastasis In The Bones

Posted on Thu, 5 Nov 2015
Question: I was medically diagnosed with mestatic(to the bone) breast cancer with extreme difficulty walking back in December of 2014 and placed on Anastrozole-1 mg(Arimidex) immediately(in hospital). I am 64 years old and have gone thru menopause. I underwent 11 days of radiation on my back and left hip bones in Feb. 2015 which improved greatly my mobility to walk better. My doctor is changing my medicine to Aromasin along with 5mg of Avinitor daily which I will start taking next week due to increased tumor marker. Also taking 50,000 iu pill of vitamin D weekly for past 8 weeks. Do I need magnesium also? What is in Avinitor...is it a chemo drug? Are Aromasin and Avinitor approved by the FDA? If not, why not.....if yes , how are they deemed to be helpful. I was told if this doesn't help, then chemo would be the next treatment. Would chemo work better now? tumor marker increased in 2 1/2 months from 330 to 430. Also
what is the safest over the counter pain medicine when needed. Am taking warfarin for past 7..last INR 2.0(last week). Still difficulty walking.......am walking on walker. Please advise. I am a member... XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Hello dear. You are on right track. Fine treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. You are getting right treatment. no worries.
1. Affinitor otherwise known as everolimus is a targetted therapy against breast cancer progression. It works very well in combination with aromasin in halting breast cancer progression.
2. This combination has been approved by USFDA(trial name BOLERO).
4. Gradually it iwill be increased to 10 mg daily.
5. Chemo works well when you have organ metastasis like lung and liver disease, otherwise targetted plus hormonal works well in bony disease.
6. You require magnesium only when magnesium level are documented low.
7. Over the counter painkiller is tylenol upto 4 gm per day (1gm per dose). otherwise tramado and morphine will work well.
Fell free to ask further. Hope i made you clear.
