Question: Hi,
My Aunt is diagnosed with Brain Tumor grade 4. we had no idea suddenly a recent MRI report disclosed this bad news.

I have gone through the MRI brain report.
Your aunt is suffering from stage 4 brain glioma.
I would advise her to immediately go for surgery under a neurosurgeon.
A biopsy taken during surgery provides tissue samples to the pathologist, who will then be able to make an accurate diagnosis of the tumor's composition, which is critical to getting the best treatment.
Surgery can also allow for the removal of tumor tissue to relieve pressure in the brain caused by the tumor. This often needs to be done on an urgent basis.
Radiation therapy and chemotherapy should be given following surgery once the diagnosis or name of the tumor is determined. These treatments are called adjuvant treatments.

As we have been told this surgery will be very painful for the patient. Could you please share what is good for the patient.
We are confused since we have been told that there are good chances of going to coma or being paralyzed during surgery and post surgery. Also it is told that even post surgery the life will be close to 6-8 months only.

I would still recommend craniotomy surgery for your aunt.
In this procedure the surgical removal of part of the bone from the skull is done to expose the brain. Specialized tools are used to remove the section of bone called the bone flap. The bone flap is temporarily removed, then replaced after the brain surgery has been performed.
If the tumour can be removed 92% to 98% one can prolong patient survival.
Chances of coma and paralysis is about 20 %.
After surgery she may be able to live for about 1 year without recurrence.
