Brief Answer:
eat more of fibers

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to HCM.

I can understand your problem and pain.

I would suggest that you eat more of fibers to add bulk that will help regulate your bowel motions. Also try restricting your water intake.

Slowly your bowel will get adapted, but i can take very long.

Also you can do Kegel excersises to strengthen your sphincter muscles. This will give you better control and longer continence periods.

You can even try to take codine or immodium at half the prescribed dose. This might give you less constipation and so less pain, but still you might get longer continence. You can try adjusting the dose that suits you better.

Hope i have been helpful.

Regards
