Posted on Mon, 3 Nov 2014
Question: Hi,
I have a small boil above my anus (say 1 to 2 cm above). It sometimes gets bigger and burst by itself and drains blood and pus. Then for sometime there is no problem as such. But all this happens without any pain. Though i feel some irritation. At present, i started applying turmeric paste. What might be the problem?

Brief Answer:
fistula in ano to be ruled out

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,welcome to HCM forum.

Swelling that drains pus indicates soft tissue infection. This recurring at intervals, without any pain indicates that the process has become a chronic issue.
Around anal canal, this usually happens in fistula in ano, where there exists a communication between the abscess cavity and anal canal. For permanent cure, the fistula tract has to be removed completely by a minor surgical procedure.

Kindly see a general surgeon for evaluation. You may be asked for investigations like MRI. If fistula is ruled out, this just need a thorough incision and drainage followed by a course of antibiotics.your doctor will guide in this.

Meanwhile, keep the area completely clean and dry.

Hope thus will answer your query.
Wishing for a faster cure.
Thank you.
