Suggest Treatment For Blood Blisters On The Glans Penis

default
Posted on Tue, 11 Aug 2015
Question: I'm male and nearly 71 years old.
I have been using a penis developer which is basically a plastic tube with a vacuum pump attachment. I've used this on and off for years.
Last week, after leaving the developer in the vacuum state - i.e. my penis was in a state of permanent "expansion" - I noticed small blood deposits in the tube and on my glans. I am not circumcised.
I cleaned up, and the bleeding stopped almost instantly. Nothing like this has ever happened before, although the suppliers of the pump warn against leaving the penis in the 'vacuum-state' for too long, or using the vacuum power too severely, both of which I clearly did.
However, my glans now shows [two] what I would call "blood blisters." Each is about half the size of a small person's smallest finger nail.
I'm not particularly worried about them because I know how they came to be there. [I've not had unprotected sex - or any other kind - for 3 months, and I'm not gay]. I am particularly careful about personal hygiene too.
The 'skin' of the blisters - like a snake's skin - soon came off, leaving two disturbing, painless, flat red marks.
I've tried Sudocrem, E45 and Elocon to no effect thus far during the last 7 days.
What should I do?
I'm concerned that anyone with whom I might have sex, would look at the marks and run a mile believing them to be signs of some awful STI!

I could send pictures if it would help.

Thank you for listening, and for your help - if you can.

Brief Answer:
suction blisters.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I have read your query in detail and have seen the attached pic too.
As a result of use of vacuum on penile area you have developed suction blisters. The blisters may be clear fluid filled or blood filled or can be pus filled when get secondarily infected.
Such blisters usually burst open spontaneously with in a day or two leaving raw open area which you seem to have developed now.
In such cases I prefer to advice topical antibiotic cream like Mupirocin 2% to apply over the affected area twice daily.
This would prevent secondary infection and will promote rapid healing.
Creams like Elocon which contain steroids would delay the resolution of the lesion.
See your doctor and share my opinion.
If you have any further query, please ask me.

Thank you Dr Varshney.....

Yes, couldn't argue with that - that's exactly the case!

Is Mupirocin 2% available over the counter, or on scrip only?

Will the problem go away on its own without such treatment?

kind regards

Brief Answer:
Apply antibiotic.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, The risk of secondary bacterial infection is always there, that is why we always give local antibiotics for application.
Mupirocin is available as OTC in your country or not, you have to check that. Otherwise also, i would recommend you to see your doctor once, so that he confirms the diagnosis.
Good Luck.
