Brief Answer:
Viral cold - normal weight and height

Detailed Answer:
Hi..your son's birth weight and current weight are appropriate. Please do not worry about it. I am not telling this just like that looking at the numbers. I am telling this after plotting your son's weight and height on growth charts... Height is between 15-25th centiles and weight is between 5-10th centiles. This is absolutely normal.

Coming to the present illness, he seems to be having a viral illness with cold and nose block. In such scenario it is very common for kids not to eat well.

But I take this opportunity to tell you one thing- if the kid is active, playing well, smiling at faces and cheerful, even if the oral intake is poor, you need not worry.

Coming to your queries -

1. You can use Cetrizine or Levocetrizine for symptomatic relief after a doctor's prescription.
2. Please do not use any other nasal drops or sprays apart from saline nasal drops. Medicines to release nasal block are not recommended at this age.

Hope I have answered your queries and apprehension about weight. Please feel free to get back if you have any other query. If you are happy with my answers, kindly rate it.

Regards - Dr. Sumanth
