Suggest Treatment For Bloating, Constipation, Stomach Ache And Stomach Rumbles While Getting Treated For Anxiety And Panic Disorder

Question: Hello, I started having a bloating, constipation ache in my stomach a month ago. Lots of stomach noise and discomfort, feelings of needing to burp or pass gas and not able to. Sometimes I feel like I’m going to throw up but don’t. Went to the doctor and he said it was a gastrointestinal infection. Did blood and urine test and they came back normal. My stools have been basically normal and I’m not actually constipated. No fever either. The doctor said it should clear up in a few days and it did. A few days later the feeling came back and I went back to the doctor who said I may have aggravated the infection with food. Now it’s been about 3 weeks since then and my stomach still gets these feelings off and on. I went a week and a half without any symptoms and then bam I felt nauseated and gassy full feelings again. I do have generalized anxiety and panic disorder if that helps. I just want these stomach issues to go away, thoughts?

Brief Answer:
Dyspepsia very likely.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I have gone very carefully through your query.
Our gastrointestinal tract has a forward propulsive movement (peristalsis) that moves the food material forward as it is digested, absorbed and finally expelled as feces. If somehow this movement gets hampered, food would stagnate and the bowel habits would not be proper. Degradation of undigested food in the intestines by the intestinal bacteria would lead to the excess gas formation.Undigested food is acted upon by bad bacteria and yeast causing production of large amount of toxic gases leading to nauseating feeling.

In order to relieve yourself, you need to do the following:
* Avoid spicy food. Take small but frequent meals. Avoid long gaps between meals.
* Avoid alcohol intake (if it a part of your habit).
*Take 5 days course of Rifaximin. This would help to destroy bad bacterias in gut.Along with it take a probiotic like Econorm twice daily for 10 days.Probiotic contains spores of good bacterias of gut and help to replete the already destroyed flora.
* Take Prilosec (omeprazole) twice daily this would help to reduce nausea bloating and gas.Over the counter activated charcoal tablets can also help.
* Take plenty of green leafy vegetables as well as other sources of dietary fibers. Take fiber supplements like isabgol/psyllium husk or senna. I would insist you to increase your dietary fiber intake.
* Regular morning walk and exercise to keep the bowel movements proper.
* Take curd or yogurt on daily basis. It contains beneficial bacteria and should help.
* Stress reduction has a very important role to play. Yoga and meditation should help.

Hopefully that should help.

Thanks, would your assessment be in line for the time this has been going on? Off and on for over a month? Also I would need a prescription for Rifaximin as you suggested. Is that something Ill need to ask my doctor or is that a service the site offers?
