Question: I'm wondering if I have a bladder infection. Recently I feel a discomfort when urinating. What feel like tightness in my genital area. My general practitioner put me on iron tablets about a month ago bevuase my red blood cells were low. Could that have something to do with it or unrelated?

Brief Answer:
Not related to medication containing Iron

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .

Discomfort during urination that you have can not be due to Iron containing medication hat you have been prescribed for Anemia .

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Do you have any other urinary symptoms like frequency for urination ,nocturia etc ?
2) How is your urine flow ?Is it moderate ,poor or normal ?

This could be due to Enlarged Prostate which is common at this age and needs to be investigated .

Consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
