Brief Answer:
Bipolar? About to be comitted? follow these instructions and you'll be OK.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

1.
Your family is attempting to send you or voluntarily or involuntarily commit you into a mental health institution regardless of it's name or location.

2.
That they are attempting to incarcerate you (imprison you) in an institution regardless of your diagnosis: Be it Bipolar Affective Disorder (manic depression) or be it virtually any of the 100 mental health problems listed in the DSM-5 (The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the XXXXXXX Psychiatric Association, your illness is called FF.33 in that legal book, that's what they are going to stamp on your commitment papers, when they imprison you finally.)

3.
You are distressed by all these events. It is OK. Anyone, including your husband, daughter and even myself, for that matter would be distressed by this situation.

4. I really appreciate your fortitude in the face of adversity.

5. I kindly wish to understand you better.

1. Do you feel "low" most of the time? Depressed? The reverse of a manic high, dysphoric (reverse of euphoric), perhaps?
2. Do you feel that your thoughts are racing?
3. How frequent are you mood swings?
4. Can you sleep well?

Based on the information you provide me, I could very easily, with my 11 years of experience in handling psych affairs, show you a non chemical, non medication based method of being in cool, calm, poised confidence. You'll feel more collected.

You'll feel better than ever.

However, I would like to better versed about your problems, and hence request more information. No need to take peoples names, keep anonymous.

The threat of imprisonment in a mental institution is very real.

Maybe we can work out a solution so that your husband and daughter have no
"grounds" on which to commit you into one.

Thus both parties would win. And you can enjoy life meanwhile.

I am not too trigger happy to give you medications. They have very vicious side effects. For instance, in a bipolar case, I could give you lithium carbonate 400mg three times a day. And I could give you valproate 1000mg and Clobazam as an adjunct. And whoosh! Your problems would vanish. The reality? You would suffer from a severe shaking tremor of your hands and head nods. Your kidneys would be scarred permanently. Your skin would erupt into psoriatic disease
forms. You would not enjoy life anymore.

I hope I am sending the right message across to you.

I am looking forward to your educated opinions as regards yourself and your life situations as they are.

Do write back.

Regards,
Dr. Neel Kudchadkar MBBS (Psych.)
