Question: Dear Doctors-I recently had LASIK Mono vision surgery on May 28 - ten days after I had cell growth and then Dr Manger opened the flap and removed the cells on june6 - I have to use Systane lubricant eye drops every 1/2 hour for 3 mos - after July 3 I started having bilateral upper cheek swelling . I showed it to Dr M and he suggested cold compressor . The swelling below the eye lid is still puffy . My physician said it could be water retention
And I m not any medication . I don't look like myself. I m worried . Could you please advise . Thank you XXXXXXX .

Brief Answer:
This requires evaluation by physician doctor.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic

I am Dr. Dadapeer K, an ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history.

Systane lubricant eye drops are very safe and will not cause any side effects. Hence no need to be worried.

The swelling below the eyelid may not be related to the eye or the surgery or the use of lubricant eye drops.
You can continue cold compression and you need to consult your physician for further evaluation for puffiness of face and treatment accordingly as this can be because of water retention as advised by your physician.

Hope this information is helpful to you.
