Question: My father has been diagnosed with bilateral basal congestion in the xray report for chest pa.

he is 70 years old and is a diabetic as well as hypertensive patient. His blood sugar levels and blood pressure both are well under control.

can you tell me what does the above diagnosis of the xray report for chest pa mean ?

Hello

Bilateral basal congestion in lungs may indicate fluid accumulation in lung interstitium/alveoli.Chest congestion is also a common symptom of respiratory tract infections but bilateral involvement is less commonly seen .
This need clinical correlation.
It is important to see for symptoms like leg edema,breathlessness,cough etc.
Your father may need fluid clearing drugs after clinical evaluation.
He may also need antibiotics and expectorant.
It is generally not a serious finding and this is a manageable condition.
