Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
I understand the situation You are in.
In case your condition is stable with no pain and if there is no restriction in your day to day activities, then best would be leave it.
Besides surgery, treatments offered are local injections of cortisone or an enzyme called as collagenase.
These local injections result in softening and weakening of the taut cord in your hand and then doctor can manipulate your hand in such a way that cord is broken and finger can be straightened. However it can recur and procedure may have to be repeated.
In case the disease is advanced and your hand functions have been curtailed, then there is no other answer except to go for surgery.
I hope it helps however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks

Thank you Dr Dupta,

I understood your recommendation and advice, now please guide me on following:

1. The left hand node is just appearing, can I go ahead with local injection treatment and would it have any issue on my diabetic medication. As mentioned by you, I had no pain for day to day activity, however I feel it deforms/bends one of the finger and feel sad about this deformation.
2. I am residing in XXXXXXX can you recommend any specific clinic for this treatment.
3. Any specific cause of this disease, as there is no family history in either of my parent.

Hello,
In my opinion it can be left as such since you are not having any problem, however it would be best to consult a specialist and get your situation assessed by him.
You can go to orthopedics department in MEDANTA hospital and consult a hand specialist there.
No exact cause is known to develop dupuytren's nodule or contracture but it is said that it has to do something with your genes. And presence of diabetes or smoking or use of certain anti epilepsy medicines can trigger that gene to result in this problem.
Best of luck
Thanks
Note: For further queries, consult a joint and bone specialist, an Orthopaedic surgeon. Book a Call now.
