Posted on Tue, 2 Feb 2016
Question: My daughter was diagnosised 2 weeks ago with intermittent explosive disorder. She is talking 40 mg of prozac in the morning, 300 mg of Dilantin at night and 1mg tenex in the pm. She is extremely tired. She was taking the dilantin 100mg 3x a day but was told she could take 300mg all at night because it is extended release. Could this be making her tired. Is this dangerous and could lower her blood pressure to low?

Brief Answer:
Side effects of drugs.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Your daughter's concerns are caused by drugs she currently uses.

Prozac and Dilantin common side effects include drowsiness and fatigue, tenet instead is a drug that is used to lower the blood pressure acting in brain.

Dilantin is better tolerated when it is taken three times a day as common composition.

Blood pressure should be monitored during tenrex use, if very low (< 80 mmHg),
your daughter's Doctor should be consulted about lowering the dose or stopping it.

Since side effects seems to be bothersome, lowering the doses of Prozac and Dilantin should be discussed with your daughter's Doctor too.
