Suggest Treatment For Bad Bone Contusion On Right Ankle And Depression

Question: Good morning, I'm at a loss and have been to several doctors that cannot answer my question for my symptoms. I'm 54 was injured January of 14, bad bone contusion on my right ankle. I fell onto a concrete slab and also have back issues. Was in a walking boot almost 6 mns and now having lower back issues. But almost 10 mns ago I started getting dizzy spells, but they would only occur while I was eating. They would happen minutes after my first bite of food or after eating, a dizziness would come on. I know am having them daily and not only when I'm eating, but can happen if I'm sitting still. I'm an 11 year cancer survivor of breast, it was in my lymph nodes on the left side. I only did radiation, no chemo. I frequently have a tiny, very sore knot that comes up under my chin. Sorry I'm trying to give you a history of me. My question, can my dizzy spells be related to the back or can I be having a cancer related issue going on. I feel like I'm not myself, my head feels cloudy and full. I've seen a Cardiologist, Pain Management, Rehabilitation & Occupational and Ears Nose & Throat Doctors. I've had MRI of my Head (no contrast), MRI of back & foot, NCV/EMG, EKC & Echo. I do have a narrowing of a vein in the left side of my neck, but the cardiologist says that's a none issue. I'm on thyroid medication, muscle relaxers, nerve blockers and now they are talking physical therapy. ALSO, I don't know if this helps, but I do NOT have potable water at my home, haven't in years, I shower with lake water and sometimes is very nasty. Could I have a parasite?
Thank you for any help, XXXXXXX

My husband passed 3 yrs ago, I run a sanctuary & rescue with 40 critters, I work a full time job M-F, I got hurt over a year ago. My balance is off, I sometimes fall (always to the right) after a tiny bit of work, between my shoulder blades burn and I'm down (sometimes using a cane to walk) . Am I just getting old and can't do the things I used too, can it be depression that I'm not seeing?

Brief Answer:
Gastritis,acid reflux,thyroid,intracranial pressure, zoonotic infections

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. Gastritis, acid reflux are common causes for dizziness, feeling light headed, sometimes while eating, burning between the shoulder blades. The Vagus nerve has a vast supply including all these areas. Another possibility is muscle spasms as a result of your previous injuries.

2. The sore knot under the chin is either a lymph node or a salivary gland. A USG Neck (Ultrasound) and an FNAC (Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology) will settle the issue. A dental check-up is recommended.

3. Get your thyroid hormone levels checked. This can cause the cloudy feeling as the thyroid glans is the master control gland of the body.

4. Get an eye check-up including a fundus examinaion to rule out increased intra-cranial tension. This may happen with a narrowed vein. A one sided fully blocked internal jugular vein doubles the intra-cranial pressure. It is good that most of your investigations are normal.

5. A parasite investigation can be ruled out with blood investigations (ESR, eosinophilia) and stool examination. I would also look for other zoonotic infections, these are carried by animals.

6. Middle ear pressures and balance test for inner ear disorders should be done.

7. Upload the reports and examination details for further treatment options.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

Thank you very much for your response, this gives me a direction to go in and I do appreciate it very much. Is there one doctor or specialist that I can go to have all these test done or do I have to see several different ones?

Brief Answer:
Yes, a multi-speciality approach is necessary here.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. You will have to visit different specialists.

2. An MD can co-ordinate the referrals and help interpret them.

3. These problems require a multi-disciplinary approach. A large regional medical center will be ideal.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
