Question: I'm 4 months pregnant. My back is aching I worked today. I clean offices and homes. Can I rub alcohol or put any muscle pain ointments? will it affect the baby?
Brief Answer:
Rest and Hot fomentation
Detailed Answer:
Dear Friend.
Welcome to HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I have read your query in detail. I understand your concern.
Medications should be avoided in pregnancy as far as possible.
Since you have got pain in back due to working, it must be Muscular spasm.
I would suggest you following:
1. Back rest.
2. Hot fomentation 4-5 times a day.
3. If you have severe pain, you may take Paracetamol in moderated doses , as it has analgesic effects and is considered safe in pregnancy.
4. Applying Pain killer gels should not be a serious concern,. but let me tell you that, absorption of drugs do occur locally through skin. So, should be avoided. Still. i prefer to give my patients ayurvedic formulations like "Moov" for this purpose, that too to be used twice or thrice a day.
I would say, that such pains usually resolve with rest and hot fomentation.
Tell me following things:
1. Any radiation of pain to your legs or thighs?
2. Any tingling or numbness?
This is my best opinion for you. Reply with these two questions of mine and ask me if you have any other query.
