Brief Answer:
I would like to know a few more details related

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query,

Back pain could be due to a number of reasons like lower muscle strain, awkward positioning, disk injury, repetitive strain injury etc.
The ideal line of management would be to identify the cause of back pain and to treat the cause than to treat the symptom.

I would like to know a few more details related in order to guide you through the adequate line of management:
- how long since you have had this symptoms?
- lifestyle and occupation?
- any radiation of pain?
- is the pain constant or does it have any postural variation?
- any other symptoms associated?

The medication prescribed for you- hydrocodone- is a narcotic opioid given for pain relief. But it is known to have some side effects. I would not prefer you taking this drug on a long term basis.

If I was your treating physician, I would suggest you to take a drug containing a combination of tramadol and acetaminophen which will be available over the counter, twice daily for a week. This forum does not allow prescription of medicines, therefore, you will be required to consult with a doctor to get it prescribed for you.
Further line of management can only be suggested once you revert back with more details.

Hope this helps
Regards
