Suggest Treatment For Back Pain

Posted on Wed, 20 Jul 2016
Question: Hello, I am a 38 year old male. I had back pain that stated about 7 weeks ago after moving furniture and some other lifting/twisting . The pain was all on the right lower back, spasms in buttocks with pain ending behind knee. I have been going to outpatient physical therapy for core strengthening and also a chiropractor. Since then, I have been feeling much better . However, last week while slouched over I felt a small moveable bump on my right side of back (maybe L4 area) and to the right of spine. I panicked, had x-rays done , nothing seen. Also had a non contrast abdominal/pelvic CT. All that was seen was a 2mm right kidney stone. I followed up with my PCP and chiropractor about bump. Both say noting to do. I was just concerned if anything bad, would scans have shown?
Thanks

Brief Answer:
I think you should get MRI

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case and I think that it is most likely back muscle spasm that is feeling like a back pain. Infection in the spine can also causes such bump. Though CT scan can pick this but most sensitive test is MRI. I would suggest you to get MRI of the spine and confirm the diagnosis.
If you want then you can share that MRI with me. Till then you can continue physiotherapy. In case you have severe pain you might need to take tablet Etova MR one to two daily. Also hot water fomentation and volini gel local application is useful.
thanks
